Guild Wars WCG 2007
This week one of the largest and most prestigious e-sports tournaments, The World Cyber Games, holds it's annual Grand Final tournament in Monza, Italy this year. A year ago Guild Wars, along side other RPG and MMO games, were nominated as a candidates for this tournament. For what ever reason all of these games were stricken from the list. My guess would be either a fractured game community or inadequate methods to present the game to an audience. Remember, this was before the GWFC, GWWC, observer mode, and during Weapon of Choice's hiatus. Guild Wars now has a stronger community than ever, an Observer Mode, and plethora of tournament experience proving that it deserves it's place at next years World Cyber Games. However; this year Guild Wars has not even received a candidate nomination. As a community, we must pull together and convince the WCG that we deserve our rightful spot among the world's elite gamers. I will be contacting the tournament coordinators to make this happen. All I need you to do is simply sign this thread, and tell all of your friends and guild members to register on the forum and sign it too. There will be mirror threads on RadioiTG.com, Guild-Hall.net, GuildWarsGuru.com, and GWOnline.net. If you would like to send a more personal message to the WCG tournament directors, you can do so here: http://wis.worldcybergames.com/cs/cs...asp?team=ZCM35 However; I will be corresponding with them myself through this method and directing them to the forum posts.
If anybody is unfamiliar with the World Cyber Games tournament festival, complete video coverage presented by the Radio iTG crew will be available all this week at both www.WorldCyberGames.com and at www.GGL.com. Furthermore; complete tournament coverage of the Guild Wars Autumn Seasonal Playoffs can be found at www.RadioiTG.com.
* On Wednesday at 7est/4pst, Weapon of Choice will offer a sneak peak at the tournament as WoC host and Team Quitter member, Kestrel, interviews Kriegar from Treacherous Empire.
* A preview of GvG commentary can be herd Thursday on Over eXtended at 9est/6pst.
* Finally live commentary of key matches during the playoffs begins on Saturday at 15cst/11est/8pst and on Sunday starting at 18cet/14est/11pst.
VODs of said matches will be hosted on www.GGL.com soon there after.
Thank you for your time and your passion,

I'd love to see GW get all the competitive support it can garner.

Well...Guild Wars already has it's own worldwide tournaments, complete with prizes and such. I dunno how/why they'd set up a tournament for some unofficial tournament when there are official Guild Wars tournaments happening all the time.

That's a pretty ignorant statement. To this point, Guild Wars has been something of a game that has had largely missed potential as far as competitive gameplay and community goes. The official tournaments are nice, but haven't been totally complete. Guild Wars would do well to promote additional tournaments, especially from something as well recognized and renowned as WCG.

It's called exposure. The more this awesome game is promoted through various menus the more successful it will become. That can only mean good things for the community as a whole.

/signed More recognition would be good but GW being far more complex than say a racing game probably doesn't help it's case to get in.
